
EssilorLuxottica and CooperCompanies have finalised their joint venture agreement for SightGlass Vision, which plans to accelerate the commercialisation of its myopia management solution.
Norbert Gorny, co-chief operating officer at EssilorLuxottica, said: ‘Together with eye care professionals, we will be able to grow awareness about existing solutions and improve access to technologies that can help children today and in their future lives.’
Dan McBride, chief operating officer and general counsel at CooperCompanies, commented that adding spectacle lenses to its portfolio of myopia management products would result in better eye sight for children.
SightGlass Vision used diffusion optics technology, which incorporated thousands of micro-dots into the lens that scatter light to reduce contrast on the retina, which was intended to reduce myopia progression in children.
